Google Wallet – Wireless Payment now Reality

Google has rolled out its newest feature: Google Wallet. Will the wireless payment system implemented on you cell phone replace credit cards?

Google Wallet let’s you manage your credit card, online coupon and rewards program all in one place. Pretty much everything your wallet can do. The new NFC chip (Near Field Communication) enables the wireless data exchange. The NFC chip is currently only available in the “Nexus S” with 4G and currently only supports the android operating platform.

Google would not be Google if it wouldn’t have integrated it’s Groupon competition Google Offers in its service. This makes it allot easier to manage your coupons.

Google wallet is not the first cell phone payment system. Switzerland’s vanilla.ch payment system was the first attempt in Switzerland to bring mobile payment to the cell phone. The service was discontinued after it hadn’t fulfilled the expectations of the investor Ringier. The MFGroup, which had offered the solution now tries to implement mobile payment with it’s new service Powerpay.
